Energy Management Strategies for Hybrid Electric Vehicle Application

Multi-source system embedded for Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) applications involves multifaceted interactions between energy sources.  The problems of these systems are complex and varied, because the full system behavior is not a juxtaposition of individual behavior of interconnected sources. Based on nature of sources and varied voltage level for HEV applications, it is often necessary to interface the power electronics converters for impedance matching between sources and traction/propulsion system. These converters give certainly the freedom degrees for energy management between all subsystems of HEV, but, they lead to significant changes for individual behavior of sources in point of coupling. An appropriate method for studying the complex multi-source systems is systemic approach. This approach is vital to establish behavioral models of sources and converters. These models are critical for energy management strategies development. The goal of this special session is focused on current developments and new trends in behavior modeling of batteries/ultracapacitors and Hybrid Electrical Vehicle energetic autonomy performance improvement using energy storage devices.

 

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Multi-source system behavior modeling (batteries, ultracapacitors, fuel cells, flywheels, … );
  • Energy storage device size optimization for HEV applications;
  • Power electronics interface design and control for energy management in HEV; 
  • HEV energy management strategies implementation;
  • Lithium batteries /ultracapacitors  ageing investigations ;
  • Energy management strategies in degraded conditions
